For the first We Are Ona x Art Basel pop-up restaurant, Pierre Marie designed a special universe using one of Basel’s emblems: the Basilisk, a mythological creature, half dragon, half rooster.
The former Rhine water purification plant, Filter 4, has been transformed in an immersive decorative ensemble of elements designed to dialogue with the cuisine of green Michelin star chef Sayaka Sawaguchi.
Basilisk is also the starting point to a decorative ensemble of fabrics, lighting and tableware, all designed for the occasion, and all of which go to make up the experience that awaits guests at the event.
Pierre Marie designed two jacquards for the occasion, the Rhine river pattern and In Basilisk pattern and played around this iconography for bespoke creations such as a limited edition of porcelain plates made in Limoges (France) by Raynaud and a special edition of block printed napkins made in Jaipur (India).
As a final special creation, there is also a unique tapestry woven in Felletin (France) by Néolice, la tapisserie numérique de la Manufacture Robert Four, with the Basilisk always as the central subject, protecting the guests of the We Are Ona x Art Basel pop-up restaurant.
