The restaurant Tortuga was built on the roof of the Galeries Lafayette Haussmann by architect Franklin Azzi, who invited Pierre Marie to engage an artistic dialogue with the project.
Pierre Marie created a monumental textile hanging piece composed of 6 panels, where a fantasy world of pirates, deep waters and lost treasures unfolds on the walls of the restaurant, as well as 3 furniture textiles that draw their patterned motifs from the large central piece. In line with the tradition of decorative arts and the innovative spirit of 19th century’s emerging department stores, where engineers, architects and artists worked together, this collaboration is a testament to the value of integrated creative vision.
